Dessert Menu --Thanksgiving Ideas

Everyone and their mother is posting Thanksgiving recipes.   So in an effort to join the party yet be unique, I'm just going to post a list of perfect desserts.  Because desserts are the most important part of Thanksgiving.

Not the turkey.  Dessert.  When you push yourself away from the table, kvetching about the vast quantities you consumed, are you patting your stomach while thinking, "Gee, that was the best turkey in the world"?

Noooo ... through that food coma haze, your brain is reliving all those vast quantities of desserts you ate, right after pleading, "No, no, really, I couldn't eat another bite ... ooh,  pie ... well maybe just a sliver ..."

Ironically, this year I will only be making cookies.  It seems that theNewlyweds scored grandstand tickets for the Macy*s Thanksgiving Day Parade in NYC, so I need to make something that can tolerate any weather conditions sitting mega-hours in an unheated car while we go freeze our respective tuchuses off wondering if Underdog is here.

So without further ado (because ado's can get really old), here are links to desserts Thanksgiving-ish:

No-Egg Parve Pumpkin Pie - Vegetarian Times has updated this classic recipe, but I like this one better.

Fruit Salad with Honey-Lime Dressing  - pretend to end on a healthy note

Carrot Pudding  - definitely not your bubbie's carrot kugel!  Make with parve ingredients to serve after a fleishig feast.

Almond Couscous Pudding - If someone complains that couscous isn't traditional, point to the almonds on the green bean casserole and say you are just continuing a theme.

Almond Rice Pudding -1st  cousin of Almond Couscous Pudding.  Use dried cranberries to look more Thanksgiving-ish.

Chocolate Shooters - easier than pie.  Serve in tall glasses to look fancy-schmancy.

Blueberry Cobbler Bars - if blueberries are taking up space in your freezer, make this easy dessert and reclaim that valuable space for Turkey Day leftovers.

Flourless Chocolate Fudge Cookies - proves that gluten-free and company cookies aren't mutually exclusive.

Happy Thanksgiving!
